Whitewater Valley Walkers will be using a new trail at their walk on May 18, 2019. The trail section was just opened by the local trail maintenance organization – Whitewater Canal Trail, Inc. The walk on May 18 will allow starts from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Cost is the normal $3 fee and there is no award from Whitewater Valley Walkers. The 5K walk is entirely on the new trail section, and the 10K walk will use 1.9 miles of the new trail, the town of Metamora, and a bit of the traditional Canal Trail past the aquaduct and the canal boat – Ben Franklin. Start point for the walk is the Indiana Museums Grist Mill in the town of Metamora - 19073 75 Main St, Metamora, IN 47030.
Metamora, Indiana is about 70 miles southeast of Indianapolis and 40 miles northwest of Cincinnati, on US Route 52. This historic canal town has shops, crafts, food, steam railroad and canal boat rides, in addition to the walking trail.
