Central Canal Towpath

Winding along water and woods, this beautiful trail is more than five miles long. The crushed limestone path runs from the canal's headwater in Broad Ripple to 30th Street.

Eagle Creek Trail

It's just 1.8 miles, but the trail is still under construction and eventually will be 16 miles. It runs from 56th Street to 46th Street at Eagle Creek Parkway and wanders through woodland, open park and prairie settings. The surface will be an eight- to 12-foot-wide asphalt path, good for walking, running, biking and cross-country skiing.

Pleasant Run Trail

The south end of this trail is the northwest corner of Garfield Park, near the intersection of Raymond Street and Pleasant Run Parkway. The end of the trail is Ellenberger Park, but along the way it passes Christian Park, Orange Park and Howe Middle School. Some of the trail is asphalt, some of it uses sidewalks, and the rest is unpaved. It crosses busy streets, and close attention needs to be paid to signs to follow the trail.

White River Wapahani Trail

At seven miles, it's the longest greenway in Marion County. It meanders through the city and is planned to be 16 miles upon its completion. It joins the Central Canal Towpath to Fall Creek Trail. Eventually, it will hook up to the Eagle Creek Trail, Downtown Canal Walk and Pleasant Run Trail, with access to the Monon as well. The asphalt surface is six to 12 feet wide.

Pogue's Run Trail

From Brookside Park and 16th Street to Sherman Drive to Spades Park, this crushed limestone path offers yet another option for bikers. In the future, this trail is planned to connect to a loop around Pogue's Run Basin.

Monon Trail

This busy trail stretches 10.5 miles from 10th to 96th streets, where it hooks up with the five-mile Monon Greenway in Carmel. This trail is a good link to many schools, parks, the fairgrounds and residential neighborhoods. It also connects with the Fall Creek Trail and Central Canal Towpath, which goes to the White River Wapahani Tra
